Awhina Wahine

Awhina Wahine is Māori organization in Tawa, providing counselling and support for Maori women, children and their whanau affected by rape, incest, sexual abuse and related violence including domestic violence, alcohol and drug issues, suicide, and relationship issues. The service is kaupapa Māori and prioritises Māori but may be accessed by non-Māori who feel it is the most appropriate service to meet their needs. They provide a mobile counselling service so counsellors can meet you in your home if you prefer.

Hutt Rape Counselling Network

HRCN is in Waterloo, Lower Hutt and provides free support and counselling to women, men, and children who have experienced rape and sexual abuse. They are available as an advocacy service for victims/survivors dealing with agencies such as WINZ, CYFS and Housing New Zealand. They can support victims/survivors who wish to go to the police, with the process of reporting and the court system, and assistance with medical examinations, and their crisis phone line operates 24 hours.

New Zealand Prostitutes' Collective (NZPC)

NZPC provides is a national organisation that provides support and advocacy to workers in the sex industry. The Wellington office has a free sexual health check-up service for sex workers, as well as condoms and lube on site. They operate as a drop-in centre for anyone needing support, advice or a safe space, and their services are available to people of all genders. PUMP (Pride and Unity for Male Prostitutes) is the male sex worker project for NZPC and provides support specific to men in the industry.

Sexual Abuse Help Foundation


Sexual Abuse Help Foundation provide 24/7 crisis support, counselling, and referrals to other services. They also run professional development programmes about preventing sexual violence. They have two offices, one in Wellington Central and one in Porirua.

Wellington Rape Crisis

Wellington Rape Crisis provides support for self-identified women, gender minorities and sex minorities who have been victims/survivors of sexual abuse, and their friends and whānau. This support is available over the phone, by email, and in person to survivors of rape and sexual abuse, their families, friends and whānau and no appointments are necessary. They also have fully qualified counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists to provide therapy.
